Acts 16:30 "What must I do to be saved?"

Its the most important question you could ever ask and yet, the answer is rather simple.

You must first understand that:

  • You are a sinner. Just as we were all sinners. (Romans 3:23)

  • We will be judged for those sins (2 Corinthians 5:10)

  • The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23) and after comes the judgment (Hebrews 9:27)

Left to our own devices, we have earned nothing but hell. However, God loved us so much that he made a way for us through the sacrifice of his only son, the Lord Jesus Christ, on the cross. Jesus took on all our sins and paid the price for them (death) so that we wouldnt have to. But we have to claim that sacrifice as our own. Salvation is a free gift but just as any gift we can refuse it. How do we claim that salvation?

How to be saved?

  • Believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, died for your sins and rose from the dead on the third day.

  • Repent of your sins, truly turning from them.

Then:

  • Confess your faith in Jesus before others. In Matthew 10:33 Jesus said, "But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven."

  • Be baptized (as the outward sign of an inner change) in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  • Continue in Jesus the remainder of our lives.

Sample Prayer:

Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner in need of a savior. Forgive me sins. I ask you to come into my heart and make me a new creation in you. Lord, help me to remain faithful to you. Guide and teach me in your ways and protect me from Satans snares

Amen
